Capsule Wardrobe Check-in: Almost Done!

Capsule Wardrobe Check-in: Almost Done!

Initially, I did buy quite a few clothes for my capsule wardrobe. But, to be fair, and because I'm rationalizing, I have very few summery clothes! It isn't really that warm here in Michigan for very long, so I thought I might as well boost my spring/summer capsules and start building my AZ wardrobe (versus having nothing to beat the heat). Again, I'm probably just rationalizing.

Having said that, having a capsule wardrobe has definitely helped me cut down on spending. Even just a few days ago, I was contemplating a Spiritual Gangster shirt that was on sale (I crave their comfy fabric and ethereal designs) and decided, "It's not time for my summer capsule, I should wait." I've done this multiple times and I've been really proud of myself! I'm a sucker for sales--hence I've also been digitally decluttering unsubscribing from various lists. Let's be real, there are enough sales to where if I really want to shop in that section, I can do it when it's actually time to buy.

I've also seen some clear winners and losers so far. The weather has dictated some of it (my poor tank tops, your day will come! I always think about wearing them but they aren't always appropriate for my internship), but there are also articles I find myself avoiding repeatedly. One of them is a green GAP longsleeve, similar to the picture below...

It's comfortable, but the colors just don't thrill me. I don't have a lot of jewelry to match it either, and my sweaters don't go well with it (I suppose I could experiment more?). I was on the fence about it to begin with, guess I should've trusted my gut. On the other hand, this sweater...

I'm obsessed. Mine is a little different from the one shown above, the sleeves on my cardigan are open and unfitted. I want one in fifty colors, or just more cape like sweaters in general. I always get compliments when I wear it, and it can be dressed up for work or thrown on quickly over a tank heading to yoga. I think it will even last the summer with my high-waisted shorts for a cool summer evening. I am also a big fan of the other neutral colored sweater I bought--it allows me to show off some of my beautiful necklaces I've accumulated over the years, but haven't really worn because so many of my shirts had really distracting patterns.

Now that it's finally getting warm out, my high-waisted shorts are my new favorites. They are super comfortable and stretchy (thank you American Eagle!). I have another pair tucked away to pull out for my summer capsule. The weather went from 55 to 85 overnight, so my white jeans haven't gotten much use, I really need to stop being afraid of getting things dirty. Not wearing them is just as bad!

Now that my internship rotation at IDC is over this week, I'm hoping to get back into my own yoga practice. So I won't be using my capsule as much since I'll probably be living in yoga leggings, tank tops, and Mala beads (except I don't really have any yet :( ). In another week I'll start planning my summer capsule. My number one want-to-buy? Birkenstocks!
