What's in my bag?
The blog Death to the Stock Photo has a writer's challenge they send out every so often -- the most recent challenge asked...
"What's in the bag? And where are you going?"
Currently, I've got my backpack. I'm a student still, so it has my laptop, charger, simplified planner, an old moleskine notebook, many colored pens, a couple pencils, my trapper folder, my dual spoon/fork (because who knows when I might need to eat something?), and some paper I swore months ago I would put in my folder when I had the chance. There might also be some mints in there, and there's always my contigo mug in the side pocket; I never leave home without it--my addiction to coffee is real. Caffeine withdrawal will kill me in the apocolypse much faster than any zombie or parasite (maybe I'll grow coffee plants). And I'm usually going to school. Or to teach yoga.
Other than that, I carry my small wallet and phone and keys in whatever pockets I can find (winter jacket, fleece, jeans, boyfriend, etc). But what do I imagine?
I have my beautiful cognac leather purse/backpack. In it, a dotted moleskine notebook and some of my favorite pens that don't bleed through the paper but provide precise thin lines. It's a real journal, not a planner, to record spontaneity or after-the-facts, not plan out the future. I also have my favorite sunglasses, deodorant because my biggest anxiety revolves around how I smell, yoga paws so I have a mat with me always, a change of clothes including a second pair of leggings and my light sweater because I always seem to be cold, sunscreen because I love the sun but still burn because I have yet to evolve into an immortal superhuman or a mermaid, and the most stunning set of mala beads I've ever owned.
I'm going to a place where I can travel by foot to the market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables (preferably some I've never even heard of). Where I can feel the dewy freshness in the air when I wake up with the sun and won't get bitten by bugs when I do yoga outside. There's bountiful kinds of tea and the freshest sushi because I'm close to the sea, a walk away from taking a nap by the waves. My boyfriend, cat, and future baby corgi are with me and the sun shines almost every day, with a mix of warm rains and the occasional thunderstorm.
What's in your bag? And where are you going? :)
